Character name: Patrick Leary
Fandom: n/a Original Character
Species (vampire, werewolf, what have you): Human (Slightly altered metaphysically)
Character powers: Patrick has a still developing ability for magic. He's quite good at sensing and discovering the flow of magic that is already in existence. He's also gotten decently adept at making small tweaks to that flow of magic, to change what a certain charm or talisman does, for example. He's also learned to draw on magic from items and beings, employing it in more active fashions -- a brief attack, a quick defense.
Summoning up magic in himself is still difficult and largely exhausting. When he does manage it, his ability usually manifests itself in a sort of wind element, faint currents of air, the manipulation of objects. He's trying to see if he can manage healing, but at this point he's afraid to try it on anyone living lest he do more damage than helps.
He also wears a small rune on a bracelet around his wrist that alerts him when magic, especially strong magic, is near.
part ii.
1.) Is it acceptable for your character to be mind-controlled or persuaded? How susceptible are they to mind control, hypnotism, or suggestion?
Patrick is exceptionally stubborn and has a really good knack for knowing when magic is being used on him, so if it were magically originating, it would likely be harder. But in general, yeah, acceptable. :) Just hit me up first, please.
2.) Is it acceptable for your character to have their mind read? Does this include traumatic memories? What is their mind like (disturbing, orderly, joyful, surprisingly empty, etc.)? If the character has psychic walls or preventative measures against psychic interference, please explain.
In general, yes. If it's something outside his immediate narrated thoughts, please ask!
3.) Are thoughts mentioned in narration acceptable for a telepath to pick up?
Sure, go for it. If it's mentioned in narration, it's fair game.
4.) What about emotions, in the case of an empath? What sort of general emotional reading would such a character receive from yours?
Sure. Patrick's emotions are two part. There's a deep pain and fear in him, but this all hides behind a front of casual friendliness and a decent amount of good humor. This front is also quite genuine, even if it is used to push back darker thoughts at times.
5.) Are there any aspects of your character's mind, emotions, or memories you would like to be picked up, mentioned, or used in character? Conversely, is there anything that should not be noticed, or at least never mentioned?
There is a key event in Patrick's past that he has no conscious memory of. It's possible that some deep part of his subconscious remembers dying as a young child and being ripped back into life by demonic magic. This isn't something he knows anything about. Eventually it'll come out, but if it comes to mentioning this at all, hit me up to chat about it first? :)
part iii.
1.) Physically speaking, what stands out about your character? Imposing size? Physical scarring? Tattoos?
Patrick's a pretty average guy. And all his scars are on the inside. He has no tattoos or piercings. He's decent looking, but is the first to admit that he's no Brad Pitt.
2.) Is your character immune to any of the following: poisons, chemical agents, telekinetic influence, radiation, or types of illnesses?
Oh no, not in the least. He's very squishy and susceptible. Only thing he has a slight leg up on is magical influence, and then mostly because he can at least identify it.
3.) Is your character physiologically different from a human in any way? This can include their blood, skin, hair, et cetera being made up of something unusual or simply differing in construction and durability.
The only physiological difference in Patrick is that there is magic in him that has no business being in a human in the world he hails from. He's been changed on that level by the energy of the veil between this world and the afterlife as well as "demonic" magic.
4.) Are you amenable to having your character be harmed in any way? How far are you comfortable with injury to you character going? Does this include being fed on by vampires, willingly or unwillingly?
In all probability, yes! Everything short of killing him. But! Please talk with me before going there. :)
5.) Is it acceptable for other characters with abilities of shapeshifting or disguise to imitate your character? Does this include ability mimicry?
Sure, but give me a heads up so I can follow any carnage?
part iv.
1.) Can your character's presence or aura be noticed by other characters, and how would it look/feel to them? How would it manifest to a character with no supernatural abilities, if at all?
Sure. Patrick's aura is a bit damaged, undoubtedly still lined by old scars. Though he doesn't remember dying, it shaped who and what he is. The magic in him is an underlying base-line sort of thrumming. I expect if it had to be visualized, it'd be fairly bright in color and slowly pulsing brighter to dimmer, like a visual heartbeat.
2.) Can your character be affected by magic spells and curses?
Yes, he can! But he's got a good handle on sensing and feeling magic, so he'll likely know what's being done at a base level. Given enough time, he's quite good at manipulating magic that is already in existence.
3.) Can your character be affected by sin and corruption, and be tempted toward expressing their darker urges (of whatever flavor)?
In theory, yes. But this will be very difficult. Patrick is stubborn and very black and white about what is right and what is wrong. He views his brother working with demons and ruining human spirits as a huge betrayal and he refuses to let himself go down that same path, intent on rescuing his sibling from it as well.
4. What sort of sins is the character prone toward, and how might they best be tempted, if you are interested in such an event?
Sins of the flesh are something that Patrick has zero experience with and may therefore be a bit off his guard in regards to. Beyond that, there's an anger in him that he seldom expresses, so there's that as well.
5.) Are you amenable to the character receiving prophetic visions, including as part of a plot?
Sure.
part v.
1. Is threadjacking allowed? Under what circumstances?
Unless it's private, go for it!
2. Is it acceptable for canonmates that are updated further than yours to inform your character of events yours has not yet experienced?
n/a (but yeah, it'd be fine)
3. Are there triggering or upsetting topics you would like other characters to avoid mentioning to yours for the sake of continued comfort (racist words, homophobia, self-injury, etc.)?
Nope. I'm not easily put off, and if something does become uncomfortable, I'll likely just let you know at the time.
4. Are there any additions you would like us to make to this survey?
Can't think of any. :)
